Welcome to the Rights Respecting Schools page!

RRSA Ambassadors

Our Rights Respecting Steering Group, also known as RRSA Ambassadors, are a group of children from across the school. The children work very hard to ensure pupil’s recognise and understand their rights.

What is a Rights Respecting School?

A Rights Respecting School is a community where children’s rights are learned, taught, practised, respected, protected and promoted.

The Award improves the lives of children in the UK by taking a whole school approach to putting children’s rights at the heart of school policy and practice.

The difference that a Rights Respecting School makes goes beyond our school gates, making a positive impact on the whole community.

  • Children are healthier and happier
  • Children feel safe
  • Children have better relationships
  • Children become active and involved in school life and the wider world

Silver Award

We have been successful in Achieving Silver: Rights Aware. This means there is evidence that Heathfield is explicitly embedding the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in its policy, practice and culture. We are promoting knowledge and understanding of the Convention throughout our school community.

We are now excited to be working toward achieving the Gold award together.

Bronze Award

The Rights Respecting Schools Award is based on nationally agreed standards and uses a system of assessment  that looks at all aspects of the school’s life and work.

Similarly to other inspection processes the accreditation is made on the evidence seen during the assessment visit.

Here at Heathfield Primary School, we were successful in achieving the Bronze award on the  1st April 2021!

At Heathfield Primary School we are committed to empower children to learn and lead as respectful members of society.

It is important that embedding a right respecting ethos matched our vision in helping children become Happy, Hardworking, Courageous and Kind
